At The Healing Vault, we work with high-functioning women, caregivers, and professionals who look capable on the outside but feel stretched, exhausted, or quietly overwhelmed beneath the surface. This is a space to stop performing, lay things down, and do the kind of work that lasts.
Boutique therapy, exceptional care
where strength meets softness
Approach & Philosophy
I believe therapy should go beyond surface-level coping. My work is rooted in helping clients understand what they carry, where those patterns come from, and how to create meaningful, sustainable change that extends into everyday life.
My approach is collaborative, direct, and deeply compassionate. I draw from evidence-based therapeutic approaches that support both insight and practical transformation.
Therapy should feel personal because the work is personal. You may come in knowing exactly what you want to work on, or simply knowing that something needs to change. Either way, we start with where you are.
My work is grounded in attachment and the understanding that the ways we relate, cope, and protect ourselves have a story. Together, we make sense of the patterns beneath the surface, including the ones that may have once served you but are no longer working.
Insight matters, but so does what changes outside the therapy room. I work from an attachment-informed lens and draw heavily from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), alongside other evidence-based approaches. This gives us room to both understand the deeper “why” and build practical skills for moving forward.
In session, I am warm, engaged, and direct. I won’t simply sit back and nod, and you don’t have to agree with everything I say. We can question things, challenge what doesn’t fit, and figure out what actually works for you. There is room for difficult conversations and real emotion, but also humour and laughter. Therapy is serious work. It doesn’t have to feel serious every minute.
No unnecessary jargon. No need to perform. Just thoughtful, human work that goes somewhere.
This is a space where strength meets softness. Where your experiences are honoured, your story is held with care, and healing is approached with both humanity and intention.
Why Choose The Healing Vault?
A boutique experience
We are intentionally small, focused, and selective — allowing us to offer a higher level of care, attention, and consistency.
Excellence
Our work is evidence-based, thoughtfully paced, and rooted in real clinical experience across community, hospital, and private practice settings.
Specialized
We bring particular depth in areas such as burnout, caregiver stress, ambiguous grief, perfectionism, and supporting families of adult children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Authentic
This is stigma-free therapy. You don’t need to perform, minimize, or “hold it together” here. You get to show up fully — and be taken seriously.
Meet Our Founder
The Healing Vault was founded by Abim Orukpe, a Registered Social Worker and therapist with over a decade of experience in mental health.
My career has taken me across hospital, community, and specialized outpatient mental health settings, supporting individuals and families through incredibly complex seasons of life. Working with people across a wide range of circumstances has shaped not only how I practise, but how I see people: no one is simply a diagnosis, a difficult season, or the hardest thing they have been through.
I am also a Black woman and an immigrant, and those parts of my identity have shaped how I understand the world and the work I do. I know what it can mean to navigate different cultures, expectations, roles, and spaces while figuring out where you fit within them. I bring an awareness of culture and identity into the therapy room without making assumptions about what either means for you.
I created The Healing Vault because I wanted to offer therapy that is both clinically excellent and deeply human. A place for honest conversations, thoughtful challenge, curiosity, and the kind of work that doesn’t require you to leave parts of yourself at the door.
Outside of work, I’m a wife and mom. I love yoga, plants, reading, music, long walks, good conversation, and time with the people I love. There is depth to the work I do, but there is always room for warmth, humour, and being human too.
